Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said that the provision of general manager along with executive chairperson in any organization invites conflict, which needs to be considered while formulating concerned acts and laws.
Responding to queries raised by those who filed amendments and by the members of Legislative Management Committee under the National Assembly in clause-wise discussion on Media Council Bill, Minister Gurung shared that it has now verified that the provision of two heads with equal role in a single organization could not give expected results.
He mentioned, ‘Also based on natural law, the arrangement of having two persons as chief in the same organization is incompatible. Some of the media institutions have these arrangements.’
Similarly, Committee member Dr Beduram Bhusal said the clause-wise discussion has reached the final stage. He explained, ‘The discussion will conclude within few days and we will make preparation of report.
‘
Bhusal further said although Media Council would be like Press Council regulating the media houses, its scope would widen.
Committee Secretary Manoj Kumar Giri mentioned that the report would be presented at the National Assembly once clause-wise discussion concludes.
