The government today cancelled the contractual
appointment of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul
Muneem.
Following the recent political changeover in the country, the officials and
employees of the revenue board have been demanding resignation of the NBR
chairman.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this
regard cancelling his appointment.
In January this year, the contractual appointment of Muneem as the NBR
Chairman and the Senior Secretary of the Internal Resources Division (IRD)
was extended thrice for another two years.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division Md Abdur Rahman
Khan has been appointed as the new Chairman of the NBR.
