Those misusing agricultural grant to be made public


Kathmandu: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has said that the name of the individuals who have taken a large amount of subsidy and grant from the Ministry but not utilized it will be made public.

Speaking to the media persons at the ministry on Tuesday, Adhikari said the Ministry of Agriculture has given billions of rupees in subsidies in the last five to seven years and the details will be made public in a few days. “There is a big gap between the Ministry of Agriculture and the real farmers,” he said and added that he was working to bridge it.

The Agriculture Minister said that he was working to pay the sugarcane farmers as well as the dairy farmers. “Rs. 2.5 million has been reached to the dairy farmers since I assumed the responsibility of the ministry,” he said, “Efforts are being made to clear the remaining dues as well.”

On a different note, he admitted that the people are disenchanted with the political parties and said that the current alliance of Nepali Congress
and CPN (UML) should and will work to create enthusiasm among the people. “There is no way to escape from responsibility.”

Asking the media persons to point out if he has made any mistake, the Minister promised to accept it positively.
