Flood situation worsens in Noakhali

Flood situation has deteriorated in the

district due to relentless rainfall and a rise in the water level of Muhuri

river, resulting in more areas of the district have been flooded and

affecting millions of people.

A total of 71 millimeter (mm) rains were recorded by the district Weather

Office in the last 24 hours till fill the report.

As many as 20 lakh people were stranded due to the flow of flood water.

Roads, crops fields and fish ponds have gone under the flood water while

seven municipalities in Noakhali district have been submerged.

Water logging is seen in most areas of the district including Maijdee.

District administration has shut all the educational institutions. Flood

water entered homes and market places in Noakhali municipality.

As part of emergency assistance, the district administration is helping to

distribute relief items among the flood-affected people.
