A Decade of Nepal’s Constitution to Be Celebrated with Grand Festivities; PM Oli Heads Main Committee


Kathmandu: A decade since the promulgation of Nepal’s constitution will be celebrated in a grand manner, ensuring extensive public participation through various programs. The government has formed the Constitution Day and National Day, 2082 main celebration committee under the chairmanship of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.



According to National News Agency Nepal, preparations are underway to observe Constitution Day on Asoj 3, marking ten years since the establishment of the Federal Democratic Republic’s constitution. A meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singh Durbar resulted in the formation of the main celebration committee, which includes Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, Ministers of State, Secretaries, high-level government officials, chiefs of local levels in the Kathmandu Valley, and chiefs of security agencies.



The Secretary at the Home Ministry has been appointed as the member secretary of this committee, with thematic subcommittees also established to facilitate the celebrations. The main event is scheduled to take place at Tundikhel, Kathmandu on Asoj 3, with additional programs planned at provincial and local levels, including a National Day concert featuring patriotic performances.



Special audio-visual content will be broadcast through state-run media such as Radio Nepal and Nepal Television, as well as private electronic media and social networks. These will include discussions, dialogues, message-oriented dramas, and creative content highlighting the constitution’s history and significance.



During the meeting, PM Oli emphasized the importance of commemorating a decade of the new constitution at both national and community levels. He noted the celebration’s connection to the constitution’s salient features, including development, nationality, human rights, inclusion, women’s empowerment, the welfare state, and culture. PM Oli also stressed the importance of involving citizens at ward and school levels to highlight the constitution’s achievements.
