Professor A B M Obaidul Islam of Dhaka University’s physics department today joined as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Bangladesh Open University (BOU).
The newly appointed VC took charge today at the university’s Gazipur campus, said a university press release.
After joining the university, Prof Obaidul held a courtesy meeting with the university teachers, students and officials.
At the beginning of the meeting, the VC paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Anti-discrimination Student movement, said the release.
Prof Obaidul expressed firm determination of bringing an end to all kinds of irregularities and corruption as well as making a student-friendly university.
Earlier on September 12, following the President’s order, the Ministry of Education issued a gazette notification appointing Prof Obaidul as BOU VC for the next four years from the date of his joining.
