Lalitpur: General Secretary of the CPN UML, Shankar Pokharel, has announced that there is unanimous agreement on the reports to be presented at the party’s second statute convention. During a press conference hosted by the Publicity Department at the party headquarters in Lalitpur, Pokharel clarified that there is no internal dispute over the organizational, political, and statute amendment reports which the convention will address.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Pokharel acknowledged that Vice Chairs Yubraj Gyawali and Surendra Pande had expressed some differences regarding decisions made at the ninth central committee meeting. However, these differences did not amount to ideological dissent. He further explained that Pande and Gyawali’s differing opinions were related to the committee’s decision that former President Bidya Devi Bhandari should not re-enter politics.
Pokharel mentioned that a secretariat meeting will determine whether the statute convention or the national general convention will address these differing views. He emphasized that the statute convention is primarily focused on documents and reports rather than resolving differences in opinion.
In preparation for the convention, Pokharel is set to present the organization report, Vice Chair Bishnu Prasad Paudel will propose statute amendments, and Chairman KP Sharma Oli will present the political report. The UML is gearing up to host the 2nd statute convention in Godawari, Lalitpur, from September 5 to 7.
