Cumilla: House construction materials and financial assistance were distributed among flood-affected Ansar and members of the Village Defense Party (VDP) in Cumilla today. Mahbubur Rahman, the range commander of Ansar and VDP in Cumilla Range, led the distribution at a function held at the Rammala Ansar and VDP office in the district city as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was attended by District Commandant Md. Rasheduzzaman, District Circle Adjutant Md. Monirul Islam, and Cumilla Range Circle Adjutant Md. Tanzir Azad, among others. House construction materials and cash money were distributed among 22 grassroots flood-affected Ansar and VDP members from different upazilas in the district.
The recent floods have left many people homeless, with many living in difficult conditions in various upazilas of Cumilla, Feni, Noakhali, and Lakshmipur districts under the Cumilla range. As part of the rehabilitation program, house construction materials are being distributed to 57 homeless VDP members affected by the floods across these four districts to assist in repairing and renovating their houses.
Moreover, Aman paddy seedlings were distributed among 500 individuals, including helpless people and Ansar-VDP members whose seedbeds were damaged in the floods. The chief guest highlighted that Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force is the largest public-related discipline force in the country, with volunteer members actively participating in various fields for post-flood rehabilitation.
Plans are in place to distribute similar aid to flood victims in other districts over the coming phases, ensuring that assistance reaches those in need beyond Cumilla district.
