Kathmandu: Over 40 animal lovers, activists, and artists came together today for an art exhibition titled Nepal Vegan Gallery 2025 to celebrate World Vegan Day. Organized by Animal Save Nepal, and supported by Utpala Caf© and Thrive Philanthropy, the event took place in the serene environment of Utpala Caf©, Bouddha, which is considered one of Kathmandu’s leading vegetarian restaurants.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the exhibition featured over 40 pieces of art that captured the many dimensions of veganism from the suffering of farmed and wild animals to the impacts of human activities and climate change. Each piece invited reflection, compassion, and dialogue about our relationship with animals and the planet.
The day was filled with music, dance, performances, and vegan exhibitions, creating a vibrant and inspiring atmosphere that merged creativity with activism. Vegan food stalls from local establishments such as Loving Heart Vegan Restaurant, The White Lotus Vegan Caf©, and Vegan Food and Beverage House offered a plant-based experience for attendees.
The event also featured a panel discussion titled ‘Art and Activism,’ which explored how diverse art platforms can be used to promote compassion and animal rights. Krishna Gurung, a graphic designer and musician, shared his journey of adopting a vegan lifestyle for approximately three decades due to its positive impacts on animals, nature, and human health.
Ravi Thapa, a traditional Thangka artist and the visionary behind the Nepal Vegan Gallery; Abish Man Shakya, a multidisciplinary artist; and Sarita Rajopadhyaya, a celebrated actor, also utilized the platform to advocate for animal rights.
Through its fusion of art, empathy, and education, Nepal Vegan Gallery 2025 emphasized the growing movement in Nepal toward compassion, sustainability, and a plant-based future. Raghu Aditya, author of the book ‘Sakahar Tarkadhar,’ delivered a talk on the philosophy of veganism, encouraging attendees to align cultural and moral values with compassion for all beings.
Dipesh Shrestha, one of the organizers, stated, “The motive of the event is to shine light on the suffering of non-human animals, highlight their pleas, and inspire people toward a compassionate lifestyle.” The Nepal Vegan Gallery continues to grow as a creative platform, envisioning a world free from animal exploitation with its third edition this year.
