Bajura Flood Leaves Trail of Destruction: 11 Houses Swept Away and Seven Damaged


Bajura: The flood that surged through the Bichyya River on Wednesday night at Himali rural municipality-1 in Bajura district has swept away 11 houses.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the District Police Office in Bajura reported that the flood also damaged seven houses, with 17 more at high risk. Farmland and shops in ward no 1 have also sustained damage due to the disaster.



Police Inspector Dev Bahadur Chaudhary stated that wards 1, 3, and 5 of the rural municipality experienced the most damage. A police team from Kawadi Police Post has reached the affected areas to gather data. Inspector Chaudhary noted that houses belonging to Nawaraj Buda, Devilal Chadara, Birbal Chadara, Ajay Chadara, Heusara Lwar, and Angabir Chadara in ward no 5 were among those washed away by the flood.



Public infrastructure, including healthcare centers, schools, and a suspension bridge in ward no 1, have also been damaged. Govinda Bahadur Malla, Chairperson of the rural municipality, has led a team to the affected areas to assess the damage and check on the residents. Chief Administration Officer Kul Bahadur Thapa indicated that an executive meeting will soon decide on relief and rehabilitation measures for those most affected by the flood.
