New York: A two-day ‘4th Bangladesh Remittance Fair 2025’ is scheduled to be held in New York on April 19-20, aimed at increasing remittance flow from the USA to Bangladesh. Bangladesh-USA Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BUCCI) and USA-Bangladesh Business Links will jointly organize the fair at Jackson Heights in New York, USA, as per a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event will have significant media coverage, with ‘Daily Bonik Barta’, ‘Business Standard’, and the weekly ‘Thikana’ publishing special supplements. Moreover, Ekattor TV and New York-based television channel TBN24 will broadcast special programs focusing on the remittance fair. Under the slogan “Legal Remittance, Better Bangladesh”, the fair emphasizes the importance of transparent and compliant remittance processes to support Bangladesh’s economic growth and foreign reserve position.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr. Ahsan H Mansur is expected to participate as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. The event will gather key stakeholders from both public and private sectors, including banks, mobile financial service providers, app developers, money exchange houses, and channel partners. These participants will showcase their products and services, share insights, explore opportunities, and enhance the security and efficiency of remittance channels.
The fair will feature demonstrations, presentations, discussions, Q and A sessions, and a Networking Dinner. The networking sessions will include participation from the Department of Financial Services, New York State, and leading money exchange companies. This will provide a unique opportunity to engage directly with key industry representatives, explore potential partnerships, and stay informed of the latest trends and innovations in the remittance sector.
It is notable that previously, several banks, money exchange houses, and remittance channel partners such as Dhaka Bank PLC., Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC., and Uttara Bank PLC participated in the fair. The 2024 awards highlighted Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, National Bank Limited, and Bank Asia PLC as the top remittance bank receivers. BA Express, Sunman Global Express, and Standard Express received the Top Remittance Channel Partner award, while 10 individual remitters were honored with the Top Individual Remittance Award.
