BB to Issue New Currency Notes for Eid ul Fitr Celebrations

Dhaka: The Bangladesh Bank is set to release new currency notes in denominations of Taka 5, Taka 20, and Taka 50, ahead of the upcoming Eid ul Fitr festivities. This initiative, similar to previous years, aims to facilitate the exchange of fresh notes through several scheduled banks within the Dhaka region.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the distribution of these new notes will commence on March 19 and continue until March 25, excluding weekends and public holidays. The central bank’s release outlines that the distribution will occur under special arrangements across 80 branches of scheduled banks in Dhaka, as well as through various Bangladesh Bank offices during the specified period.

The central bank has also stipulated that each individual will have the opportunity to collect fresh notes only once, ensuring a broader reach among the populace. This tradition of issuing new notes has become a customary practice to enhance the celebratory spirit during the Eid ul Fitr holiday.
