Beni: The Beni-Darbang road, a crucial route connecting three local levels of Western Myagdi with the district headquarters, has been obstructed for the past three days. Direct transportation from Mangala, Malika, and Dhaulagiri Rural Municipalities to Beni Bazaar has been cut off since last Thursday following a landslide at Faparkhet (Ghumaune), along the border of Beni Municipality-4 and Mangala Rural Municipality-2.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the road disruption has caused significant challenges for locals attempting to reach their destinations. The transportation of construction materials for various infrastructure projects, including hydroelectricity, roads, buildings, transmission lines, and substations, has come to a standstill. Additionally, issues have arisen in transporting daily consumptive goods and marketing agricultural and livestock products from rural areas.
Transport entrepreneur Yagya Bahadur Thapa noted that the landslide deposition on the road and the continuous slide of boulders have increased risks in travel and transportation. Efforts to clear the debris are underway, with the Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi, overseeing the task as part of the Beni-Darbang road upgrading plan.
