BGB Arrests One, Seizes Smuggled Goods Worth Over Taka 95 Lakh in Feni


Feni: The Feni battalion patrol team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has apprehended a man and confiscated smuggled Indian goods, including a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, valued at over Taka 95 lakh during an overnight operation across various border areas in the district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seized items include Indian Sharees, three-piece garments, and whiskey. A BGB release signed by Feni Battalion (4) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain confirmed that the BGB-4 team conducted an anti-smuggling operation in the bordering areas of Sripur, Jashpur, Chhagalnaiya, and Madhugram under Chhagalnaiya and Parshuram upazilas. The operation resulted in the seizure of Indian goods worth Taka 95,19,500.



During the operation, the team arrested 22-year-old M Shariful Islam Rana, the son of Mazibul Huq from Radhanagar union of East Chhagalnaiya. He was apprehended along with Indian Sharees and the auto-rickshaw. The process of depositing the seized goods at the local Customs and Narcotics Control Department is currently underway.



The BGB official stated that the patrolling and intelligence activities aimed at preventing smuggling and ensuring security in the border areas are ongoing.
