Kathmandu: In the aftermath of flash floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli River systems, 191 workers were rescued from the under-construction hydropower tunnels located along the rivers. The operation successfully evacuated engineers, technicians, and manual workers to safety, as stated by the Nepali Army (NA) teams involved in the rescue efforts.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the NA’s Directorate of Public Relations and Information reported that NA teams managed to bring 900 people, including 56 foreigners, to safety from Timure, Syafrubesi, and Mailung areas in Rasuwa. This operation took place from Friday morning to the afternoon.
Since August 26, the NA has been actively engaged in rescue operations, saving a total of 2,101 people through land and air efforts. Additionally, the NA provided medical assistance to 1,706 individuals at its emergency medical centers located in Trishuli and Dhunche. Approximately 6,700 security personnel have been mobilized in the disaster-affected areas to conduct rescue, search, and relief operations.
The NA continues its search for missing persons and the recovery of bodies along riverbanks. The search and rescue operations have been intensified in Mailung, Timure, and Syafrubesi, with ongoing efforts to provide emergency medical assistance to those affected by the floods.
