Birgunj Customs Falls Short of Revenue Target by Rs 300 Million


Birgunj: The Customs Office in Birgunj has reported a revenue collection of Rs 1.09 billion over the first eight months of the current fiscal year, which is Rs 300 million short of its target of Rs 1.39 billion. Customs Chief Administrator Deepak Lamichhane revealed that the revenue collection during this period ranged from Rs 12.15 billion in Saun, the first month (mid-July to mid-August, 2024) of the fiscal year 2081-82 BS, to Rs 15.47 billion in Magh (January-February, 2025).



According to National News Agency Nepal, the Customs Office is optimistic about improving its revenue collection in the remaining four months of the fiscal year. The most significant contributions to the revenue have been from the import of petroleum products and motor vehicles.
