Kathmandu: The task of opening a ‘track’ for the alternative road in the Muglin-Narayangadh section has commenced. The Department of Roads (DoR) has initiated the opening of the track for the Muglin-Gaighat-Dasdhunga-Thimura-Gaindakot road, positioning it as a crucial alternative route.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Department of Roads has allocated Rs 26.93 million for this project in the current fiscal year. The work is actively underway to open the track from Abukhaireni rural municipality-4, Pulzeep in Tanahun district. The DoR has awarded the contract for the first phase of the road, which will link Muglin with Gaindakot of Nawalpur via Gaighat, Dasdhunga, Thimura, and Devpur of Devghat.
Keshav Chandra Neupane, a local resident of Devghat, expressed that the government has finally responded to the locals’ repeated demands for constructing an alternative route. The local community had been advocating for a road connecting Dasdhunga via the British Camp of Gaidakot Municipality-3 and Deupur of Devghat Rural Municipality-5 in Nawalpur, as well as an alternative route from Dasdhunga to Muglin along the banks of the Trishuli River towards Tanahun.
Til Bahadur Thapa, the chair of Devghat rural municipality, stated that Devghat would actively promote the construction of the road. He noted that Devghat rural municipality is currently not connected by the national highway, and expressed optimism that the road from Gaindakot to Dasdhunga via Devghat, once constructed, would enhance religious tourism in the pilgrimage site.
