Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today underscored the need for ensuring security and development to establish a just, integrated, and non-discriminatory state. “Security and development are indispensable to establish a just, integrated and non-discriminatory state,” he said in a message marking the 45th national assembly of the Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) to be celebrated tomorrow.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP have immense potential to play a strong role in ensuring security and development, said Dr Yunus. The auxiliary force, which extends to the grassroots administrative level of the country, has an effective network to build a secure social structure, establish fundamental rights and social development systems, and reach services to the doorsteps of the people, he added.
Highlighting the role of the Ansar and VDP in the country, the Chief Adviser mentioned that this force has made commendable contributions to maintaining law and order, rescuing victims of various disasters, and providing relief. In the continuation of building a new discrimination-free Bangladesh through various reforms of the interim government, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP are carrying out their own reform activities, he added.
More than 50,000 affiliated Ansar members are working to maintain security in various institutions, including industries, financial institutions, and hospitals, he said. The role of this force is visible in creating an investment-friendly environment in the country and providing security to the country’s diplomatic missions to maintain the image of Bangladesh abroad, he said.
The inclusive steps taken by the force to employ the youth and develop themselves as entrepreneurs will make this force more publicly evolved in the future, the Chief Adviser hoped. “I wish Bangladesh Ansar and VDP’s continued progress, prosperity, and their continued effective role in nation-building activities,” said Dr Yunus.
