CA Wraps Up WEF Visit, Returns to Bangladesh


Davos: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has concluded his four-day visit to Switzerland, where he attended the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, and is now en route to Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Yunus departed from Zurich International Airport at 9:50 pm local time aboard an Emirates commercial flight. He is expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 5:00 pm Bangladesh time today. During the WEF summit, the chief adviser participated in 47 formal events, engaging with global leaders across various sectors.

Throughout his stay in Davos, Prof Yunus maintained a busy schedule, holding meetings with significant figures such as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta, and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. He also engaged with UN officials, including High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and President of Finland Alexander Stubb.

On the second day of the summit, Prof Yunus attended
numerous programs and side events, meeting key figures like Wolfgang Schmidt, Head of the Federal Chancellery of Germany, and King Philippe of Belgium. He also spoke at a plenary session titled ‘The State of Climate and Nature’ and participated in an event organized by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.

The third day saw Prof Yunus engaged in 14 scheduled events and meetings with influential leaders such as Sir Nick Clegg of Meta Platforms Inc and Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem of DP World. He also participated in a one-on-one program with Klaus Schwab, Founder of the World Economic Forum.

As his visit concluded, Prof Yunus continued to foster valuable connections, meeting American investor Ray Dalio and Amer Alireza of the Xenel Group, strengthening international ties for future collaboration.
