Kathmandu: A case of contempt of court has been filed against Prime Minister Sushila Karki at the Supreme Court on Monday. The contempt complaint arises from PM Karki’s alleged failure to comply with a court order regarding the immediate implementation of a government decision.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the complaint was lodged by legal practitioner Prem Silwal. The issue stems from a government decision made on October 15 to recall 11 ambassadors appointed by the previous administration. This decision was challenged by a division bench of Justice Saranga Subedi and Shreekanta Paudel, which issued an interim order to halt the recall pending further review.
Despite the interim order, the government instructed the ambassadors to report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the following day, intensifying the legal dispute. The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for the case on November 23, as confirmed by the court’s spokesperson, Arjun Prasad Koirala.
