Cementing Federal Republic Is Shared Responsibility: PM Oli

Sudurpaschim: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized that the current constitution is a product of the people’s representatives and was enacted by the constituent assembly. He stressed that protecting and nurturing the constitution and federal republic is a collective duty.

According to National News Agency Nepal, during his special address at the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly meeting on Sunday, PM Oli reiterated that the constitution is the result of long struggles and sacrifices by the people. He urged everyone to adhere to the democratic system and provisions ensured by the constitution.

PM Oli remarked on former king Gyanendra Shah’s statement on Democracy Day, calling it unusual and noting that emotional outbursts do not contribute to nation-building. He also cautioned against efforts to incite unrest in the country.

In his address, PM Oli expressed gratitude to all political parties for standing united against such plots. He addressed rumors concerning the former king, questioning the notion of leadership without a people’s mandate and contrasting it with the elected status of President Ramchandra Paudel.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the current government was formed through consensus between two major political parties and reiterated his commitment to transferring leadership according to the pre-established agreement.
