Charikot: With the BP Highway rendered impassable due to damage triggered by heavy rains on October 3 and 4, travelers heading to and from the Terai and eastern districts are now resorting to alternative routes.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the route via Dolalghat through Khurkot-Manthali-Charikot-Mude-Khadichour has emerged as a crucial alternative roadway. To streamline traffic flow, authorities have implemented one-way traffic operations from Devkota Chowk in Manthali. Vehicles are directed to exit the police office and bus park towards Kathmandu, while incoming traffic follows a one-way system from the bus park to Devkota Chowk via Kataharbot Chowk.
Kaushal Neupane, Information Officer at the District Police Office, noted that vehicles traveling from the Terai to eastern Koshi Province and Kathmandu via the BP Highway are now using this alternative route. Efforts are underway to assist passengers returning to their workplaces after celebrating Dashain at their village homes.
