Dhaka: Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus will visit the ‘Aynaghor’ soon. Dr Yunus made this announcement following a meeting with the members of the Commission for Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances at the State Guest House Jamuna this afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting, the commission members updated the Chief Adviser on the progress of their investigation into cases of enforced disappearances. They urged him to visit the ‘Joint Interrogation Cell’, referred to as ‘Aynaghor’ or ‘Mirror House’, to provide reassurance to the victims that they are safe.

The commission members provided detailed accounts of the brutal torture experienced by some victims of enforced disappearances. They revealed that the investigation even uncovered the disappearance of a six-year-old child.

Responding to the commission’s appeal, Chief Adviser Prof Yunus expressed his shock at the findings of the investigation. He assured the commission that he would visit the ‘Aynaghor’ soon.
