SIMIKOT: A children’s home has been completed in Simikot, the district headquarters of Humla, with financial support from the Japanese government. The project, funded with a grant of Rs 13.5 million, aims to provide shelter and support for local children in need.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the keys to the newly constructed building were handed over by Tamura Takahiro, Charge d’Affaires of the Japanese Embassy, to the chief of the Rural Empowerment and Development Initiative (READI Humla) during a ceremony held on Wednesday. The facility is designed to accommodate up to 30 children.
A press release from the Japanese Embassy noted that the building will also serve as a venue for the local community to conduct training and other activities, thereby enhancing its utility beyond just providing shelter. The initiative underscores the collaborative efforts between Japan and local organizations to support and empower rural communities in Nepal.
