Rasuwa: The Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV transmission line has officially commenced operations, marking a significant development in Nepal’s power infrastructure. This 28-kilometer transmission line extends from the Chilime Substation at Thambuchet, located in Amachodingmo Rural Municipality of Rasuwa, to the Trishuli Substation at Pahrebensi in Kispang Rural Municipality of Nuwakot.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the transmission line is set to transmit electricity generated by the hydropower projects along the Trishuli River and its tributaries into the national grid. With a capacity to transmit approximately 1,200 megawatts of electricity, the project represents a crucial step in harnessing and distributing renewable energy within the country.
The Chilime-Trishuli project was realized through investments from the Government of Nepal and a grant provided by the German Development Bank (KFW). Additionally, a concessional loan was secured from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to facilitate the proje
ct’s completion.
A total of 76 towers were constructed to support the 28 km long transmission line, which traverses areas ranging from 680 to 2600 meters above sea level. This infrastructure project not only boosts the national power grid but also illustrates international cooperation in advancing Nepal’s energy sector.
