Civil Society Network on Social Protection Elects Dolma Tamang as New Leader


Kathmandu: The third convention of the Social Protection Civil Society Network (SPCSN) has elected a new working committee under the leadership of Dolma Tamang from Sindhupalchowk. She represents the Mahila Atma Nirbharta Kendra (MANK).



According to National News Agency Nepal, Gopal Thapa Magar has been elected as vice chair, Kunda Sharma as general secretary, Charimaya Tamang as secretary, and Pramod Kumar Acharya as treasurer of the network of non-governmental organizations working in the field of social protection. Outgoing Chair Tilottam Paudel handed over the leadership to the new executive committee.



The Network has also launched a hotline service to receive complaints related to social security and child welfare. Established in Nepal in 2012, the organization comprises 19 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and 2 international NGOs. As the Organisation says, it is dedicated to advocating for the rights of the most vulnerable groups in Nepalese society, including children, the elderly, people with disabilities, trafficking survivors, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, single women, Dalits, and the landless.
