Chitwan: Search for nests of Ghariyal crocodiles in the Rapti River has begun. The Chitwan National Park (CNP) usually searches for nests of Ghariyal crocodiles in the river during Nepali months, Chaitra and Baisakh every year.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Information Officer at CNP Abinash Thapa Magar stated that the search for nests of the Ghariyal species, which began on March 15, would continue until April 23. To aid in this effort, two people from the Bote community have been mobilized.
Once the nest searching is complete, the task of collecting crocodile eggs will commence by mobilizing the national park employees, Information Officer Magar added. The collected eggs will then be transported to the crocodile breeding centre at the office for the hatching process.
In previous years, CNP conducted searches for crocodile nests in both the Rapti and Narayani Rivers. However, this year, the search is being conducted solely in the Rapti River.
