Country likely to witness persistent rainfall: Met office


Bangladesh Meteorological Department today

forecasted light to moderate rain likely over different parts across the

country for the next 24 hours.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty

wind is likely to occur at many places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions

and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and

Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country”,

according to the forecast begins from 9am today.

Monsoon trough runs through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part

of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over

North Bay.

Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.

Country’s maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 34.5 degree Celsius at

Feni and minimum temperature today was recorded 23.3 degree Celsius at

Tetulia. Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6 am today was

recorded 104 millimeters (mm) at Bhola.
