CPN and Motherland Awakening Campaign Unite to Forge Strong Political Alliance

Kathmandu: The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and Matribhumi Jagaran Abhiyan, also known as the Motherland Awakening Campaign, have officially agreed to merge their efforts to establish a robust political entity. NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Co-convener Madhav Kumar Nepal, along with Jagaran Abhiyan founder Bhim Rawal, have formulated a seven-point agreement to unify the two parties.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the unity declaration was made at a meeting held at the City Hall in Kathmandu. The two groups have committed to pursuing politics, national economy, and cultural initiatives that remain free from external interference, prioritizing the interests of the people, national sovereignty, unity, independence, integrity, self-respect, and self-determination.

The agreement further outlines plans to hold a National Unification Convention within the next six months. This convention will focus on economic-social transformation and prosperity, grounded in the principles of socialism and social justice. The date and venue for the general convention are to be determined by the Secretariat at the earliest possible opportunity.

Additionally, members active at all levels of the Matribhumi Jagaran Abhiyan will be integrated into the Nepali Communist Party on a mutually agreeable basis. The agreement specifies that the party’s statute, political report, and policies will be developed collaboratively. The party will operate based on its statute, embracing democratic values, collective leadership, and democratic centralism, with task forces established at various levels to facilitate party unification.

Bhim Rawal initiated the Matribhumi Awakening Campaign following his expulsion from the CPN (UML).
