Baitadi: The risk of dengue fever is on the rise in Baitadi district, with seven people confirmed to be infected.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Jaya Singh Badal, a lab technician at the District Health Office, reported the infections.
The Health Office has launched the “Search and Destroy Larva” campaign following the detection of cases in the district. Three cases were confirmed in Dasharath Chand Municipality, two in Purchaudi Municipality, and one each in Melauli and Patan municipalities. Bipin Lekhak, the Information Officer of the District Health Office, stated that the campaign aims to prevent and control dengue by targeting mosquito larvae in the district headquarters and Patan bazaar area, especially since mosquitoes are more active during the monsoon season.
The campaign witnessed participation from health workers, security personnel, local representatives, civil society members, and local residents. The cleanup effort was conducted on Wednesday. Other local governments in the district have also initiated their own “Search and Destroy Larva” campaigns to combat dengue.
