Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector to achieve national development goals. Speaking at the 59th Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), PM Oli expressed satisfaction with the initiative that highlights the need for action. He assured that the government is committed to supporting the private sector in its quest for development and prosperity.
According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli highlighted that the collaboration between the government and private sector serves as a model for progress. He urged both sectors to work together to accelerate development and increase the use of indigenous goods. He further stated that the government is dedicated to providing services and facilities to the public, and is actively formulating policies and laws based on private sector suggestions to boost production and productivity.
During the event, the government recognized the best province and district committees of the Federation and sector-wise companies for their contributions in tax payments. Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, underscored the essential role of the private sector in achieving economic development and progress. Despite resource constraints, she asserted that the government is focused on developing and upgrading major infrastructures to fulfill the people’s aspirations for economic growth.
Dr. Deuba acknowledged recent shortages in foreign aid but emphasized the need to create a favorable environment for domestic and foreign investment. She noted that the government is amending acts and laws to remove obstacles to economic prosperity and stressed the necessity of cooperation between good governance and the private sector.
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, reiterated the government’s commitment to policy reforms to enhance the investment climate. He indicated that efforts are underway to update investment-related acts and laws, streamline services, and attract foreign investment.
FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal urged the private sector to lead the charge toward economic prosperity and development. He advocated for giving the private sector the freedom to pursue the government’s prosperity goals, highlighting the need for decent, high-wage employment opportunities to replace despair with hope.
The occasion also featured the felicitation of entrepreneurs by Prime Minister Oli, with several high-ranking government officials and private sector leaders in attendance.
