Dhaka: The Department of Environment (DoE) has advised the city’s residents to wear face masks when venturing outdoors, as the air quality index (AQI) has reached hazardous levels.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DoE issued a press release noting that the city’s AQI surpassed 300 this morning. In response, the department has urged residents to take precautions by wearing face masks outdoors.
The press release further advises sensitive groups, including the sick, elderly, and children, to avoid going outside unless necessary. The environmental authority highlighted that the AQI fluctuates hourly and tends to reach unhealthy levels in the city and surrounding areas during the dry season.
