Itahari:Eight individuals have been apprehended in Itahari on charges of gambling. Authorities have seized Rs 456,000 in stakes from those involved.
According to National News Agency RSS, Chandra Bahadur Khadka, the information officer at the District Police Office Sunsari, reported that a police team detained the suspects on Sunday evening following a special tip-off. The arrests took place at The Easton Hotel located at Shantichowk, Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-4, where the accused were found playing cards for gambling.
The individuals arrested include Mohan Ghimire, Manoj Rai, Ishwar Karki, Tikaram Gelal, Jeevan Adhikari, Yuvaraj Magar, Durga Prasad Thapa, and Khagendra Limbu, all residents of Itahari Municipality. In addition to the cash, police confiscated seven decks of cards used in the gambling activities. The authorities have indicated that all eight individuals are currently under investigation.
