Dhaka: Election Commissioner (EC) Abdur Rahmanel Masud has announced that the national parliamentary elections will occur either at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year (2026). The announcement was made during a meeting with district and upazila election officials today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Masud emphasized that the current election commission is fully focused on the national election. He stated that efforts are being made to ensure the election is acceptable, free, fair, transparent, and credible. He elaborated on the nationwide initiatives to update the voters’ list, highlighting that around 35,000 data collectors have been engaged in this task.
The commissioner urged election officials to fulfill their responsibilities with the highest level of integrity and sought cooperation to create an accurate voters’ list. The meeting was chaired by Senior Election Officer Khan Shahanur Khan.
