Bhadrakali: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, has emphasized that the current government, established following the Gen-Z protests in early September, has a primary mandate to conduct the upcoming election with full participation from all political parties and citizens as per the announced date.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Kharel addressed a gathering at the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) Central Office in Bhadrakali, urging all stakeholders to foster a conducive environment for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026. He highlighted that Prime Minister Sushila Karki has committed to uphold the electoral mandate and emphasized the importance of creating a supportive atmosphere to ensure the election’s success. He also expressed optimism for robust media support in this endeavor.
Kharel reiterated that the government, formed with the consensus of all political factions and reflecting the people’s will, benefits from broad public backing. He underlined the collective aspiration for elections shared by political entities and citizens alike, noting that the Election Commission has already released the official election schedule. He expressed confidence that RSS would contribute constructively to nurturing the electoral environment.
As the government spokesperson, Minister Kharel also outlined additional mandates of the government, including ensuring good governance, tackling corruption, investigating the loss of lives and property during the Gen-Z protests, and providing relief and rehabilitation following recent natural disasters. He affirmed the government’s dedication to these duties.
The spokesperson mentioned ongoing political dialogues, both direct and indirect, aimed at strengthening the environment ahead of the upcoming election.
