Thakurgaon: A court in Thakurgaon has ordered the arrest of former municipality mayor and Awami League leader Anjuman Ara Begum Banya, along with district Jubo League general secretary Debashish Dutt Sameer, in a new legal case. Following their court appearance, both individuals have been remanded to custody.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the two accused were presented before the court of Judicial Magistrate Rahima Khatun on Sunday morning. During the proceedings, they were formally recognized as arrested in connection to a new case.
District Bar Association president and plaintiff lawyer Joynal Abedin detailed that the police action was based on a case filed on January 1. The charges include incidents of arson, use of explosives, and acts of vandalism targeting the district BNP office.
