Eye Treatment Facility Opens in Parbat District, Bringing Relief to Local Residents

Parbat: An eye treatment facility has been established at Bahaki Thati of Bihadi rural municipality-8 in Parbat district. The remote rural municipality in the southern belt of the district received the eye treatment facility with technical support from the Himalaya Eye Hospital, Pokhara.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chairperson of Bihadi rural municipality, Parvin Gurung, inaugurated the Centre on Friday. Previously, general services were only available at the Provincial Hospital in the district. With the establishment of the Centre, villagers can now access eye treatment services in their own locality.

Chairperson Gurung shared that the Centre was launched to provide reliable healthcare services to the residents of the southern region of the district. Patients from the adjacent Gulmi district, as well as those from Bihadi and Paiyun rural municipalities, can benefit from the services.

The Centre will provide eye examinations, perform general and cataract surgeries, and distribute medicine and eyeglasses. Before its establishment, residents from Bihadi rural municipality had to travel to cities like Pokhara, Palpa, or Butwal to receive proper health services.

Gurung also mentioned that the high number of eye patients identified during a health camp organized by the rural municipality led to the establishment of the Centre. Vice-Chairperson of Bihadi rural municipality, Mina Sharma, expressed her confidence in the benefits the new Eye Treatment Centre will bring to many citizens.

The Centre eliminates the need for local residents to travel far for eye treatment services, a sentiment echoed by local resident Maya Sharma Tiwari. She expressed her happiness that with the service now available in their village, they no longer need to seek treatment outside the district.

In the past, residents of Parbat district had to wait for free health camps or travel as far as Kathmandu for complex eye issues or cataract surgery due to the lack of a well-equipped eye treatment centre.
