Festivals Play Key Role in Bolstering National Unity, Says Upper House Chair


KATHMANDU: National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal has emphasized the significant role of the Tamu Lhosar festival, celebrated by the Gurung community as their New Year, in fostering religious tolerance and national unity.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Chairperson Dahal conveyed this message of best wishes during the observance of Tamu Lhosar. He extended his greetings for happiness, peace, prosperity, and continued progress to all Nepalis, including the Tamu community, both domestically and internationally, on this auspicious occasion.



Dahal highlighted that the Constitution of Nepal incorporates national unity as characterized by multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-lingual, and multi-cultural attributes, along with geographical diversity, as the essence of the national ethos. He noted that indigenous religious and cultural festivals like Tamu Lhosar significantly contribute to enhancing social unity, harmony, and religious tolerance, thereby strengthening national unity.
