Fire Service Prepares for Fire Safety at Biswa Ijtema Ground

Gazipur: The Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) has implemented extensive measures to ensure fire safety and first aid at the Biswa Ijtema ground, situated on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi in Gazipur, as the event is set to commence tomorrow. The FSCD has proactively deployed a substantial force of 374 personnel, equipped with necessary fire extinguishers, to provide comprehensive safety coverage at the Ijtema ground.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the FSCD’s press release highlighted the strategic deployment, stating, “Some 374 personnel of the force have been kept ready to provide fire safety at the entire Ijtema Maidan. Among them, two firefighters with fire extinguishers, fire hooks, and fire beaters will always be on duty in each zone to deal with immediate fire accidents.” This meticulous planning includes the use of drone units for continuous monitoring of the ground.

To further bolster their response capabilities, a temporary control room has been established, complete with a mobile contact number for 24-hour service. Additionally, two fire control rooms have been set up at different locations to ensure efficient monitoring of fire safety at the Ijtema Maidan. For immediate assistance, the mobile numbers 01901020865 and 02224410082 will be operational around the clock.

For logistical support, the FSCD has positioned four water tankers, three ambulances, 14 pumps, 220 fire extinguishers, 13 generators, 128 walkie-talkies, 150 delivery hoses, and 14 branch pipes strategically throughout the Maidan. A rescue speed boat and a four-person diving team are also on standby in the Turag River under the Kamarpara Bridge to handle any potential water-related incidents.

Water supply for fire extinguishing has been secured with the installation of six pumps on the banks of the Turag River and five in various reservoirs. Additionally, the fire stations in Tongi, Uttara, and Joydevpur have been placed on standby to provide immediate assistance during the Ijtema.
