Five Highway Sections in Nepal Completely Blocked Due to Landslides

Kathmandu: Five sections of different highways have been completely blocked due to landslides across the country.

According to National News Agency Nepal, vehicular movement along these sections has come to a standstill, while two other highways are operating on a one-way basis.

The affected highways include the Koshi highway, Mechi highway, the highway connecting Nepal-China, Pasang Lhamu highway, and the Jomsom-Korala section. The landslides have caused significant disruption, halting transportation and affecting local communities who rely on these routes for daily travel.

Spokesperson at the Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire, confirmed the extent of the blockages and assured that efforts are underway to clear the roads and restore normal traffic flow. The police and local authorities are coordinating to manage the situation and ensure the safety of travelers.

The landslides underscore the ongoing challenges faced by the region’s infrastructure, particularly during adverse weather conditions, and highlight the need for ongoing monitoring and maintenance of these critical routes.
