Floods Disrupt Life and Power Production in Modikhola

Modikhola: Heavy rain since this morning has caused flooding in Modikhola, affecting Kimrung, Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 of Kaski, and triggering landslides in numerous places. The flood has also caused damage in the Kaski region.

According to National News Agency Nepal, all concerned authorities have urged caution after the water level in Modikhola rose significantly since 3:00 pm. The District Administration Office in Parbat and Modi Rural Municipality have advised residents living in coastal areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Amid these developments, all four power plants operating in Modikhola-Madhyamodi, Modikhola, Lower Modi, and United Modi Hydroelectric Projects-have halted production due to the excessive river flow. Surendra Belbase, Public Relations Officer of the Lower Modi Hydroelectric Project, stated that production was stopped to prevent equipment damage from flooding and debris such as stones and sand entering the power plants.

Additionally, more police have been deployed upstream of Modikhola for security measures, as reported by Vijay Yadav, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.
