Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel has assured that the government is committed to providing necessary funds for disaster management across the country. In a recent discussion with elected representatives from Lalitpur district, Poudel emphasized the government’s dedication to addressing the aftermath of disaster-induced floods and landslides.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the meeting saw Deputy Prime Minister Poudel expressing his commitment to allocate budgets through the relevant ministry, coordinating closely with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA). He responded positively to the concerns raised by the all-party team led by Nepali Congress leader and House of Representatives member Udaya Shumsher Rana. The team highlighted the urgent need for funds to reconstruct settlements and structures damaged during the last monsoon’s floods.
Additionally, the representatives urged that the Rs 250 million allocated for the Lele-Bhardeu-Chandanpur-Thuladurlung road project be executed as a multi-year initiative. They also demanded prompt compensation for those affected by the expansion works on the Satdobato-Chapagaun and Satdobato-Godavari roads.
