FNTE Urges Increased Vigilance in Transport Operations Due to Cyclone Arnab Threat

Kathmandu:The Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs (FNTE) has called for heightened vigilance among transport operators in response to the potential impact of Cyclone Arnab. This advisory follows concerns over adverse weather conditions that may affect vehicular operations across various regions.

According to National News Agency RSS, Deknath Gautam, the Secretary General of FNTE, issued a notice urging transport operators to exercise extra caution from tonight until October 31. This cautionary stance is due to the anticipated bad weather affecting several provinces in the country.

The FNTE, referencing a notice from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, highlighted that the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are expected to be significantly impacted by the weather. Additionally, the Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces might experience strong winds and moderate rainfall, with potential snowfall forecasted for the Himalayan areas. Transport entrepreneurs have been advised to take necessary precautions and coordinate with security agencies and local administrations for both long and short-distance passenger and cargo vehicle operations.

Further, the Federation advised that transport should be halted if conditions become hazardous, ensuring the public is informed in advance of any service suspensions. The general public is encouraged to contact the Meteorology Department hotline at 1155 for weather updates and 1234, 100, or 1114 for assistance during disasters.
