Geneva: A bilateral meeting was held between Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, and Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov, in Geneva today. They met on the sidelines of the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during the meeting, they discussed various matters of bilateral welfare and mutual interest. On the occasion, Foreign Minister Deuba expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for successfully conducting the UN climate change Conference (COP29).
She highlighted that Nepal and Azerbaijan, as members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and Group of 77 (G77), have been addressing common issues faced by developing countries in international forums.
Foreign Minister Deuba acknowledged Azerbaijan’s commitments in the area of climate change and expressed hope that both countries would continue to raise common voices in international forums about the impacts of climate change on developing countries. Furthermore, Minister Deuba extended an invitation to Azerbaijan to participate in the Sagarmatha Sambat, which Nepal is set to host in the coming May.
