Former Minister Rayamajhi Returns to Jail Amidst Ongoing Investigation

Kathmandu: CPN (UML) leader and former minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who previously escaped from prison during the Gen Z protests, has now returned to jail. Rayamajhi was initially incarcerated due to his alleged involvement in a significant scam concerning fake Bhutanese refugees.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chomendra Neupane, Director of the Department of Prison Management, stated that Rayamajhi, who had left the jail on September 9, has now returned to the facility. The Kathmandu District Court had earlier remanded him to custody for his involvement in a scheme that allegedly involved sending Nepali citizens to the United States under the guise of being Bhutanese refugees.

The Department of Prison Management further reported that a total of 7,107 absconding prisoners have returned to their respective facilities. This includes 6,846 individuals from jails and 341 from correction centers.
