Kathmandu: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged the government to actively engage in creating an atmosphere conducive to elections. While obtaining a second copy of her citizenship certificate from the Kathmandu District Office today, the former Head of State advised the government and relevant authorities to focus on building an election-friendly environment.
According to National News Agency Nepal, former President Bhandari emphasized the need for a violence-free and systematic election process. She called on the government to ensure that the upcoming election is conducted without any disturbances. She also highlighted the importance of the security forces searching for and confiscating arms that have been snatched from the police.
The duplicate copy of Bhandari’s citizenship certificate was issued following the loss of her original document during an arson attack at her home amid the Gen Z demonstration on September 9. Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer, Ishwor Raj Paudel, was responsible for handing her the second copy of the certificate.
