Gen-Z Protest: KMC Working to Clear Road Debris

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has begun clearance of the road debris that has scattered in different parts of the city following the Gen-Z protests.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief of the Department of Environment of the KMC, Sarita Rai, stated that a total of 100 broomer machines, waste management vehicles, and waste clearing vehicles have been mobilized to remove the debris.

Rai mentioned that workers have already cleared debris from areas including Kalimati, Teku, Tripureshwor, Thapathali, Maitighar, and Baneshwor, and they are continuing their efforts in additional sites.

‘The cleaning teams have not cleared debris from government offices and private buildings. Only road debris clearance is ongoing,’ she added.

A large number of public and private properties were burnt and destroyed during the Gen-Z protests. It may take additional time to remove debris from private and public buildings, and offices.

Meanwhile, the KMC has requested all stakeholders to manage glass-related and other harmful wastes.
