Dang: General Secretary of CPN UML, Shankar Pokharel, has underlined the need for cementing unity within the party. Addressing the party’s district representatives’ council in Dang today, he stated that unity among all sides is crucial for party building. Pokharel clarified that UML has a single post concept, which would be implemented gradually, providing opportunities to everyone.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Pokharel encouraged party leaders and cadres to focus on their contributions to the party rather than on what the party has given them. He urged them to carry out their responsibilities effectively. He also remarked that it is not appropriate for the former president to join active politics, suggesting instead that she should engage in social activities. He acknowledged her recent hosting of a dar programme for active women leaders.
Pokharel further argued that the government is committed to national development. He pointed out that with the NC and UML in government, revenue has increased, spending capacity has improved, and the private sector has been encouraged by an investment-friendly atmosphere. He asserted that stalled development projects have gained momentum and that laws related to federalism have been formulated by the current government.
Finally, Pokharel noted that the upcoming statute convention of the UML would feature discussions on proposals relating to political, organizational, and statute amendments.
