Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, emphasized that the current government is intent on fostering hope among citizens by ensuring effective governance. Speaking at the Nepal Youth Entrepreneurship Summit, 2025, which was organized collaboratively by the National Youth Council and the Nepal Business Institute, he addressed the longstanding dissatisfaction and anger expressed through the Gen Z movement as a consequence of inadequate service delivery, governance, and development.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Ghising highlighted that the old political parties and leaders, despite succeeding in political regime change, have not been able to steer the country towards prosperity. He pointed out that outdated laws have hindered the fulfillment of public aspirations for prosperity and suggested that the incoming government should address these obsolete Acts, laws, and policies.
Minister Ghising also assured the public about the upcoming election, urging confidence that it would proceed as scheduled. He called for voters to use their judgment to elect leaders capable of guiding the nation in a positive direction.
Swarnim Wagle, Vice President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, echoed the sentiment of growing dissatisfaction due to unmet economic aspirations. He emphasized the need to curb corruption and ensure good governance to foster domestic and foreign investment, noting the hesitance among investors following private sector attacks during the Gen Z movement.
Jyotsna Shrestha, Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), urged the youth to focus on innovation and job creation instead of seeking employment, stressing the importance of stopping brain drain. She mentioned that the Federation is promoting startups in collaboration with the government and educational institutions.
Surendra Paudel, Vice-Chairperson of the National Youth Council, highlighted the potential of returning youth from foreign employment to contribute to entrepreneurship within the country. The summit will include discussions on promoting youth entrepreneurship, challenges, opportunities, and policy making.
