Government Allocates Funds for Paddy Procurement at Minimum Support Price

Siena:The government plans to procure 15,000 metric tons of paddy during the current fiscal year, allocating a total of Rs 675 million for this initiative.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Environment is collaborating with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies to conduct the procurement at the minimum support price.

The private secretariat of Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary reported that the procurement process has already started. The minimum support price for monsoon paddy is set at Rs 3,660 per quintal, while coarse and medium-grade paddy is priced at Rs 3,860 per quintal.

This procurement strategy aims to ensure that farmers receive a fair price for their produce, thereby minimizing market price uncertainty, as noted by the Secretariat.
